For many years, being environmentally responsible has
been important to me. I am a member of the Sierra Club
and the Audubon Society of Metro Denver. One of my
former jobs was teaching an outdoor education program
for the Audubon Society. I am also a member of the
Mayor’s Greenprint Council and will be a member of the
new Denver City Council’s Greenprint Committee.
I do several things at my home:

★ I recycle everything that is allowable.
I even purchased a cardboard cutter to cut
up large pieces of cardboard.
★ I have had a compost bin for many years.
During the spring, summer and fall, I dig my
vegetable waste directly into my vegetable garden.
In the winter, I put it in the bin and dig it into the
garden in the spring.
★ I have a collection of cloth bags that I reuse every
time I go grocery shopping.
★ I collect the plastic bags from both newspapers and
fill up the “pick up your dog waste” containers in
Bible Park and along the Highline Canal.
★ Every morning I take the water that is left from the
day before in my dog’s water bowl and water flowers
in my garden.

In the office, we also:

★ Recycle paper and waste
★ Walk to work at least one day a week
★ Handed out 3000 CFLs ( light bulbs)
in exchange for canned goods
★ Switched to filtered tap water from bottled water
★ Send out a monthly E-newsletter, not print
★ Print on both sides of paper to conserve materials
★ Buy recycled paper ( post 30% consumer)
★ Recycle print cartridges to Optimist Club
