August 28, 2008
THE GREEN CAR is revving up The 2009 Chevrolet Silverado Hybrid Coloradans, who’ve had a relationship with their wheels since the West was won, are re-looking at expectations from their ride, as are Americans nationwide. Drivers are looking for ways to avoid the gouging gas prices, do more for the environment and receive a healthy value in the exchange. Symbols Point Way Toward Green Living
August 28, 2008
If “green” and “eco-friendly” are just vague terms, how can consumers know that what they are buying is the best choice, environmentally speaking? Auto’ newest hue: GREEN
August 26, 2008
Our cars, they mean the world to us and take our breath away … literally, with car pollution and smog-related emissions, besides triggering respiratory problems. As gasoline prices reach new highs, the green movement takes on new impact as Americans struggle to balance our love of the automobile with the desire to reduce our dependence on crude oil. The auto industry is scrambling to provide alternatives. By 2010, J.D. Power and Associates (a national statistic and certification corporation) predicts there will be... (more...)

HOW GREEN IS YOU WORKPLACE?
August 26, 2008
Colorado companies, communities green up for the greater good Ten years ago the above question would probably have related to the color of your office walls. Today it has a lot more to do with the kind of paint on the walls and the color of the bins you use for trash. Companies that thought they were hot stuff for recycling the volumes of paperwork in a day’s span are now looking at options to go paperless. New office buildings are much more apt to include solar energy, hybrid transportation, energy-efficient lighting,... (more...)
Junking up the planet
August 26, 2008
Unsolicited mail piles up, killing trees, creating trash Junk mail is more than a nuisance cluttering up your mailbox. It’s an environmental nightmare. Americans receive 19 billion catalogs a year. That’s 62 catalogs for every man, woman and child in the nation. Printing those catalogs requires 53 million trees, or 3.6 million tons of paper. Making the paper for those catalogs eats up enough energy to power more than a million homes for a year, sends 5.2 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and requires... (more...)
Check those labels
August 26, 2008
Some companies resort to ‘greenwashing’ to polish corporate image Many people want to purchase products that don’t harm the environment, but interpreting labels can be tricky. In fact, companies have come up with so many eco-friendly — but possibly overblown — claims for their products that there is a term for the phenomenon: “greenwashing.” “Greenwashing is the practice of marketing a company or brand as being environmentally friendly while the major efforts of the company are not,” said Dr. Gary Bamossy,... News You can use
August 26, 2008
News you can use Americans use 67 tons of newspaper each year. That’s a lot of baseball standings and stock listings piling up. The good news (pun intended) is that newspaper is recyclable. But since newsprint can only be recycled three to five times before it breaks down, it’s still better to use it a time or two for other purposes before pitching it into the recycling bucket. Here are some uses: • It’s almost summer, which means it’s almost camping season. Don’t get caught in the woods without the most abundant... (more...)
