Biodegradable: Material typically originating from plant or animal sources, which may be broken down by other living organisms. Waste that cannot be broken down by other living organisms may be called non-biodegradable. Cap-and-Trade Program: An administrative approach used to control pollution by providing economic incentives for achieving reductions in the emissions of pollutants. News you can use Americans use 67 tons of newspaper each year. That’s a lot of baseball standings and stock listings piling up. The good news (pun intended) is that newspaper is recyclable. But since newsprint can only be recycled three to five times before it breaks down, it’s still better to use it a time or two for other purposes before pitching it into the recycling bucket. It takes more energy to create something new than it does to recycle.
